When our arborists asses a tree for removal, they first think of safety and then efficiency. Accessibility, surroundings and the health of the tree are also factored in to the decision. If the tree isn't sound enough for our project manager to climb, we will bring in a bucket truck or a crane to assist. A crane is used to suspend the crewman while he cuts the tree and the sections are secured, carefully lifted over obstacles and placed safely on the ground.
Depending on your preference, there are different options for the stump. It can either be cut as flush as possible or it can be ground out. Grinding includes the stump and visible root flare. Extending roots can also be ground out as an option. Stump grindings can be left on site, removed to grade or entirely cleaned up and replaced with topsoil to then be seeded or sodded.
Cabling a tree helps to mitigate the chance of wind or storm failures in a tree. Cabling is typically done when pruning would not be enough to ensure the tree's stability. It takes a qualified arborist to decide when installing a cable is justified. Cables may be needed in situations when trees have co-dominant stems or enlarged poor branch unions. The need for cables could be due to the fact that the tree was not correctly pruned in its earlier years. In addition to cabling, trees may also need bracing with large through bolts and may also be done in addition to pruning.
Our hardworking crews are available 24 hours in the event of an emergency. Our arborist is trained and highly experience in removing trees off of homes and valuable structures without causing further damage. We know your home is precious to you so we take every precaution to work as safely as possible with respect to life and property. It is our goal to prioritize storm damage projects to help the client as quickly as possible during a difficult time.
The root collar is the area at the base of the tree where the roots join the main trunk. This area is identifiable by the flaring out of the major roots. This is actually part of the main trunk, not the root system. The roots are designed to withstand the moisture of soil and mulch, however, the trunk is not. Oxygen and carbon dioxide flow in and out of the inner bark (the phloem), and with the constant presence of water, this flow is interrupted. Over time, this interrupted flow will lead to death in the phloem cells. This makes the plant more susceptible to insect and disease infestation. When placing soil or mulch, it should never be placed directly against the trunk of the plant. 95% of all plant health care problems start with the root collar and immediate root health. Ensure that your plants’ root collars are healthy and inspected by an arborist. We can provide a service of safely excavating any improperly covered root collars and severing any girdling roots that are strangling a tree. This being the most important part of the tree, this service should only be provided by an experienced arborist.
Our certified arborist is one of the few arborists in the area that specializes and is certified in tree risk assessment. Tree Risk Assessment is a systematic process that reviews risk factors found in a tree and ranks them into categories. It is often easy and very subjective to say a tree is hazardous and in need of removal, but it is not as easy to determine if the entire tree truly is hazardous or if there are ways it can be saved. Subjective reasoning must use objective sound scientific conclusions. Many urban areas are pressured to retain trees as a sustainable part of the landscape. Due to legal liability issues, it is important to have your trees assessed by someone with the proper credentials.
Our arborist is a current member in good standing with the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA). We offer the following consulting services:
An arborist is a specialist in the care of individual trees. Arborists are knowledgeable about the needs of trees and are trained and equipped to provide proper care. Hiring an arborist is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Proper tree care is an investment that can lead to substantial returns. Well-cared-for trees are attractive and can add considerable value to your property. Poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability. Pruning or removing trees, especially large trees, can be dangerous work. Tree work should be done only by those trained and equipped to work safely in trees. Check for ISA arborist certification. Certified Arborists are experienced professionals who have passed an extensive examination covering all aspects of tree care. Certified Arborists must also continue their education to maintain their certification. Therefore, they are more likely to be up to date on the latest techniques in arboriculture.
Along with client satisfaction, safety is one of our number one priorities. Tree work is one of the top three most dangerous industries. Last year there were more than 60 fatalities for every 100,000 workers; three times higher than policemen or firemen.
Tree related accidents include ‘contact by object’ (chippers, chainsaws, fallen limbs or trees), falling from trees or equipment and being electrocuted by live power lines and wires. These fatalities are easily avoided if properly trained in tree work and jobsite safety. Under no circumstances should a homeowner attempt any type of tree work on their own.
We are constantly training our team members on the newest safety standards available and staying current on all certifications. Our ISA Certified Arborist is also our certified safety professional and he takes pride in striving for an accident-free workplace.
