Cozy Lighting Tips for the Holiday Season

Greet friends and family members with a warm and welcoming entrance to your home. An exterior lighting system is one of the most stylish and effortless ways to add an instant upgrade to your property.

Let Illuminations by DiSabatino show you how to spotlight your home. Our team members put together a few tips to consider before installing an outdoor lighting project:

Assess Your Property

What do you hope to accomplish with an outdoor lighting project? If you want to highlight focal points in your backyard, consider globe lights, lanterns or garden feature illumination. If it’s for entertaining, consider string lighting, pathway sconces or bollard lights. To increase security, retaining wall and overhead lights are great choices.

Identify Potential Concerns

If you have a yard with poor drainage, unusual property features, or a particularly dark lot, you need to take these into consideration while planning your lighting. An Ingress Protection (IP) rating lets clients know how well lights can work with water or soil particles. Make sure your lighting can access all the electricity outlets around your home as well.

Add Color and Depth

Have fun this holiday season! Add bright and colorful lights, blinking accents, or roving light shows. Put a bright display of reindeer on your lawn or hang Christmas ornaments from your trees. This is the time to let it all out and enjoy the magic of the holidays.

Choose Quality Fixtures

This area exposes outdoor lighting fixtures to bracing elements of snow, hail, ice and heavy rain. Plan accordingly. You’ll need quality lighting fixtures that stand up to harsh Northeastern temperatures. Quality fixtures will have “weather resistant” and “weather proof” labels on their boxes.
